Digging Up the Past...

I just found my tote full of Barbies and clothes/accessories.  I have a bunch of Barbies and the fun part is that they are all from the 1980's up until the early/mid 90's.  I'm selling most of my collection on Ebay right now (for Roo's Hobbies) just because I would rather they go to someone that will actually do something with them unlike me having them sitting in storage for like 20+ years now!

I kept my "Sleeping Beauty" doll that I bought because she still has her shoes, jewelry, crown, and pillow.  And I decided to keep a handful of handmade Barbie clothes including 2 things my mom made me when I was little. :-)

Here's my Briar Rose/Princess Aurora doll- she comes with the blue version of her ball gown (Disney film) and also a little blue pillow.  When you squeeze the pillow it plays "Once Upon A Dream" but after so many years sitting, the battery is dead. :-(  On the back of her neck is a lever and if you pull the lever, her eyes close- so if you lay her on her pillow it looks as though she's sleeping. :-)

Here are the few outfits I kept~

This petite floral summer dress (left) and green w/silver trim cloak (right) were both made by my mom:

All these outfits were made by a local lady who had a small craft store attached to her house. Granted, this was over 20 years ago but I have a vivid memory of picking these out with my mom!

Wishlist

My ever-growing list of dolls I would love to get into my collection- ranging from Barbie to Phantom to Disney!  I'm sure I will be adding to this list more in the future.

The live-action Disney, "Cinderella" movie has gorgeous costumes AND dolls~

This is Cinderella in her ballgown:

Cinderella with her prince wearing her wedding gown:

A slightly different (and assuming cheaper) version of Cinderella in her wedding gown:

Cinderella's Fairy Godmother (2 different versions) I like the one on the left better!:

Here are some gorgeous intricate dolls that were inspired by the ALW 2004 musical adaptation, "The Phantom of the Opera"~

Here is Christine Daae & The Phantom.... Christine is wearing her "Masquerade Gown" and the Phantom is wearing a replica of what he wears during the "lair" scene of the film:

Here is another version of Christine in her "Masquerade Gown" & The Phantom in his "Red Death" masquerade costume:

This is what Mattel/Barbie released back in the early 1990's- it is their replica of Christine in her wedding gown that is worn during the "final lair scene" and also the Phantom looking dashing in his black tux, cape, with his skull staff:

This is a version of ALW's Phantom & Christine made by a company called "Franklin Mint":

This is a film version someone made of Christine wearing her white dressing gown during the "mirror/lair scene" and the Phantom wearing his outfit that Gerry Butler wears in the '04 film:

Hands down, this is my favorite "Christine Daae" doll wearing her wedding gown- would love to own this one someday but I'm sure it's not cheap!  But isn't it beautiful?!:

I Loved Barbies Growing Up

As an only child growing up, I had to amuse myself most days- I had my circle of friends, but I couldn't always have them around entertaining me....

Throughout my childhood, I think I ended up with about sixty Barbies.  I loved to dress them up, act scenes out from my favorite movies- it was magical pretend time when life was so innocent and carefree.

I still have all my Barbies but will admit, some of them are in rough shape- I cut a couple of Barbies hair, crimped or curled their hair, and one poor doll got bitten and chewed on by my dog... ;-)  They are in a big box currently in storage.  However, I have three different Barbie Dolls I have acquired since I hit adulthood and have kept them preserved in their boxes, unopened.  Believe me, it's STILL hard for me to not open the box!!!!

*These were all online finds, and are not photos of my dolls, however, they are the same identical dolls that I own.

This first doll is a part of the Hollywood Legend Collection and is Scarlett O'Hara in her green "curtain/tassel" dress from the film, "Gone With the Wind"

The next doll is Sleeping Beauty from the Disney movie, and one of many different versions made throughout the years.  This particular doll comes with one of the fairy godmothers plus a tiny sized Golden Book of the story.  It is a part of the "Princess Stories Collection"~
*If you are familiar with the film, you may remember at the end, when Princess Aurora is dancing with Prince Phillip, her gown changes from blue to pink, blue to pink.  The fairy godmothers are fighting over which color to make it.  This doll is the pink version, but I actually have the princess doll with the blue dress as well- but it's packed away and I also had taken it out of the box which I now deeply regret!

Last but not least is the Evil Queen from Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs."
I looked for this particular doll online and found it difficult.  I finally found one that was almost identical and made by the same company.  First, this particular doll is in the wrong box because it doesn't say "the queen" it says "the prince"...lol  However, this doll has a different color belt that is around her robe and also a crown.  My version has a different color belt and no crown.  Puzzling....

Here are photos of my Evil Queen doll:
